Stylish Shoes for the Winter Months

Stylish Shoes for the Winter Months

shoesWell winter has certainly hit the Northern Hemisphere like a sledgehammer and whether you’re walking the streets of Downtown New York, London or Paris you are going to need some suitable shoes. So far it’s been easy to just wear summer/autumn shoes with thermal leggings but with the snow and frost you are going to need to switch to some proper winter attire. Here are a few suggestions for shoes that are perfect to wear in winter while still being quite fashionable this season.

Chelsea Boots

Chelsea boots have had a long history behind them ranging back to Victorian gentlemen and ladies who fancied horse riding. They were the quintessentially British 60’s Mod footwear and are now making a huge comeback in both men’s and women’s fashion. Chealsea Boots are associated with a younger more ‘urban’ crowd of wearers and are often in very challenging colours or patterns to back-up their rock credentials. Chunky full heels are quite fashionable right now and perfect with skinny jeans while the less extravagant models go perfectly with pants for the more business-like ladies out there.

Wedge Boots

Wedge boots might not seem like a practical item for the black iced pavements of winter but don’t let practicality factor too much into your wardrobe! Wedge boots are quite stable and help keep your ankle straight so you have less chances of twisting it on dangerous surfaces. Wedge boots are big this winter and two particularly crazy street fashion elements that figure heavily into this year’s designs are diamond studs and large buckles. Glitter Wedges are also popular but harder to pull off.

Hunter Boots

Rubber Wellington Boots are not high fashion and yet somehow Hunter boots managed to turn these utilitarian shapeless things into the must-have wetwear, equally acceptable on Fifth Avenue or in the Louisiana Bayou. But don’t think that these simple garments are just on this list for their waterproof properties. Hunter Boots are far more than the sum of their parts and can easily feature in a couture outfit for the street. Not only that but you can now get them with a faux fur lining and, if you’re ready to spend big, you can buy some of the remaining limited edition Jimmy Choo Hunter Boots put out in 2009 and 2011. Yes, Jimmy Choo rubber boots. Hunter Boots are comfortable, warm and for some reason even stylish so don’t be shy about wearing them in the city this winter.
